Dr. Russonella Addresses Overuse Injuries During Free Presentation for Nutley Little League

Before nearly 100 Nutley Little League coaches and parents on March 19 at John H. Walker Middle School, Dr. Michael Russonella of the North Jersey Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute provided a free presentation educating his guests about overuse injuries in young athletes.

“The culture of youth sports has changed tremendously,” Dr. Russonella said. “Because of this new culture of one-sport athletes, we tend to see a lot more overuse injuries in our youth, because they are stressing one part of the body all the time as opposed to participating in different sports all year round where they are putting stress on a different body part during a different season.”
